Music

We provide access to musical instrument tuition through the Hillingdon Music Service.  Currently a full range of orchestra instruments are offered with upper strings being Wednesday mornings, brass on Wednesday afternoons, lower strings on Thursday mornings and woodwind on Thursday afternoons.  Children start in Year 4 and due to demand only children already learning an instrument who join the school in Years 5 & 6 can be accommodated in the teaching programme. Parents will be informed early in Year 4 of the choices available.

Orchestra - this is for any child who plays an orchestra instrument in Years 5 and 6 and any younger children who has been learning for a year.  It takes place between 3.25 p.m. and 4.30 p.m. on a Friday afternoon.  All children who learn an instrument through the Hillingdon Music Service are expected to take part.  Currently over 60 children are members of the orchestra.  It gives at least two concerts a year and smaller groups drawn from it may be involved in other musical events. - contact Miss Wharton 

 Choir - this is for any child in Years 5 & 6.  It meets after school on Thursdays from 1.25 to 2.00 p.m.  There is no audition though once a child has committed themselves regular attendance is expected and for at least a term.  The choir gives at least two concerts a year and either the full choir or a subgroup is involved in other performance events during the year.  - contact Miss Wharton

Lower School Choir - this is for any child in Years 3 & 4.  It meets during a lunch time.  There is no audition though once a child has committed themselves regular attendance is expected and for at least a term.  In recent years the Lower School Choir has taken part in the Pavilions Carol Service in Uxbridge, the Ickenham Festival Community Night and the Ickenham Festival.  Year 1 and Year 2 Choir - this is for any child in Years 1 & 2. There is no audition though once a child has committed themselves regular attendance is expected and for at least a term.  In recent years this Choir has taken part at The Christmas Fete, the Ickenham Festival Community Night and the Ickenham Festival.
